Description of Product or Service Endorsing: In-home wine tasting and consulting business.

Douglas Rohde says...

In December of 2010 I decided to close my internet travel business due to a huge increase in competition and a drastic decrease in business because of a declining economy. I was working on my Bachelor's degree so I decided to just focus on my studies. By April of 2011 I was getting itchy to get back into some type of business. My wife and I enjoyed going to the wine festivals throughout the state, and between the huge attendance at these festivals and the growing presence of larger wine departments in grocery stores, I knew that getting into wine in some way was an opportunity calling. I did some research into the cost of transport vans thinking that providing tours to the wine festivals might be a good way to go. After discovering the cost to purchase and maintain these vans, insurance costs, employee costs and liability that I would need to assume, I decided that it wasn't the best way to go.
I began searching the internet for businesses that dealt with wine when The Traveling Vineyard popped up. As I read the information, I couldn't believe that a service like this even existed. The more I read, the more excited I got. The clincher was that the cost of starting my new business was only $249 and that price included everything I needed to get started including the wine. I emailed the company and asked if they would have someone contact me to give me more information. Within 24 hours I received a call from one of the company's directors. Debbie was great. She answered my questions and didn't try to oversell the opportunity. I liked that. What Debbie didn't know when she called me was that I was already sold on the business and I was determining how their people did business. Her direct, matter of fact approach sold me in that department. I told her that I still needed a couple of days to make a decision and she agreed that I needed to be sure. Again, I was already sold but I wanted to see how she would respond to my delay.
At the end of our conversation, she advised me that the company was doing a promotion for that month which would give me an opportunity to get my initial investment back for doing 3 successful events in the first 60 days. That was the icing on the cake.
I have now been with The Traveling Vineyard for 1 year and I don't think I have ever had so much fun working. The company is great, the support is great, the management is great and every wine tasting I do allows me to make new friends, have a lot of fun, and add an extra income to my retirement. I am looking forward to earning one of the incredible trips offered by the company and continuing to share wonderful wines with my new friends who I haven't met yet.
